Christmas 2020

                         Newsletter

Welcome to our last newsletter of 2020.

As we reach the end of 2020, we would like to thank each and every player, parent and carer for their continued support of Judo Club Osaka.  Without your support and dedication we would not be able to be one of the best judo clubs in the UK.

We have all endured a very strange year with lots of disruption including to the sport that we all love.  Thank you to everyone for your total understanding of the rules and regulations we have had to work with and we truly hope that we can return our judo as soon as it is possible.

challenge by the end of this year and to date, they have raised £1,145 for their cause. If you wish to donate please click on the

Thank You for helping to raise funds.....

Easyfundraising

We would like to thank those players & parents who have been supporting us through this fundraising platform, especially during this challenging time for us all. Our fundraising account has been gathering donations throughout this period and although when you see the donation figure and it is for 4 pence or 10 pence, it does not matter because each of those pennies will help raise a larger amount for our club.

A special mention here must go to the Grant family who have continually used this fundraising platform to help us throughout the variety of lockdowns…

If you would like to help raise funds for our club when you purchase items, please see below.

Do you order Christmas/Birthday/Easter presents from any of the following: Amazon, Next, Waitrose, Argos… if you answered Yes, then you could help us to raise funds for Judo Club Osaka….

We belong to a fundraising group called ‘Easyfundraising’.  Every time you purchase something online with their partner retailers, the retailers make a small donation to say thank you and Easyfundraising send those fee funds to our cause.(JCO)   To start helping us raise funds all you need to do is register with: https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/judoclubosaka/ .  Some of the retailers who participate in this scheme are: Waitrose, Argos, Amazon, Next, Insurance companies, Holiday/travel companies and a variety of hotels to name a few…

Should anyone wishes to join but are having problems setting this up, please feel free to ask Dawn for assistance.

You can set a donation reminder on your computer/mobile phone/tablet so that any time you log onto a company/retailer who assists with this scheme, a reminder notice will pop up on your screen. You are not charged anything extra for purchasing through this scheme, each company makes a donation via a % donation which you are notified about when purchasing through the retailer.  (Currently, I have raised 86.00 for the club over the past year by using a variety of companies e.g. amazon, booking.com to name a couple)

Social Media...

Welcome to our last newsletter of 2019.

BJA British National Championships

During the past 2 weekends we have had two teams of judoka take part in the ‘Nationals’.

Saturday 30th November and Sunday 1st December saw our Pre-Cadets and Cadets take to the stage at the EIS stadium in Sheffield.

Saturday’s participants were Noah G, Matt G, Harry G, Josh D, Josh L and Amelia A.  Sunday’s participants were Hope, Victor and Archy.

Congratulations to our British National Champions – Amelia in the U40kgs category and Josh L in the U81kgs who both took Gold.

The rest of the team put in valiant efforts with some making it through to repechage stage but sadly not making it through to medal stage.  Everyone came away with lots of experience and knowledge gained and maybe few pointers ready for next year or even their next competition.

Next up on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th December were our Junior and Senior participants, Lucy W, Andreas B, Harry L/M , Lewis L ,

Harry ZP (Zippy), Archie P, and Shelley Ludford.

Congratulations to our British National Champions

In the Junior category                    Lewis in the O100kgs                     Gold

Our new membership period began on 1st September 2019.  New forms were attached to an email sent out in July and August and were to be returned to Dawn as soon as possible.

If any player/parent/carer has not done this yet, please can you do so within the next 2 weeks.  We do hold blank forms should anyone not be able to print a form

It is IMPORTANT that we have a completed form for every judoka who attends/participates in any of our judo sessions.  These forms hold your emergency contact details in case there is an accident during your child’s judo session.  Your contact details are also held on the judo club laptop so emails can be sent out to you in the event of an emergency e.g. the club will not be operating because…
