Links to Activity Sites

As we are all in uncharted waters at the moment, we thought it may help everyone if we put together a set of links which will take you and your families to a variety of sites to enable you to still keep exercising or take part in fitness activities at home or in the garden (weather permitting)

 

We are proud to include in our links, one from our own club member - Shelley Ludford, who is a member of the Senior GB

Judo Squad and is currently at home in Basingstoke with her family and training hard.

Whilst you are all taking part in any of these activities, please feel free to send in via our email, any photos you would like to show of you or your judoka training during this period.  We are setting up a separate gallery attached to the main page for these photos... we look forward to seeing what each of our members and their families are up to...

 

Judo Club Osaka

Shelley Ludford Judo

Our very own Shelley Ludford is with her family in Basingstoke during this uncertain period of time. She is doing group workouts with them using YouTube fitness videos and a variety of other fitness videos, such as Joe Wicks (The Body Coach). She is posting her daily training videos on her facebook page for us to follow: www.facebook.com/shelleyludfordjudo   These are easy home equipped workouts which can be adapted to suit the judoka.

7th April 2020   Shelley has posted a new challenge today for our judoka!  British Judo Strength and Conditioning team have set Shelley and her team mates a challenge - complete as many letters of the alphabet as you can in 30 minutes...... log onto to Shelley's judo facebook page to find out how she got on.....can you beat her? The link to her page is given above.  Please send us a photograph or video of you attempting this challenge...

21st April 2020 Shelley has added another workout to her page. Its a living room workout, Shelley is using items in her living room instead of gym/fitness equipment. This is a 10 minute workout consisting of 1 minute on and 1 minute off. She lists the 10 exercises at the beginning of the workout so you know what you are going to be taking part in.  Find it on www.facebook.com/shelleyludfordjudo

  • Performance Physio, Jacob, posts a different workout daily for you at home and you don't need specialist equipment, tins and toilet rolls can be used instead...

JG Sports Massage

For those of you who don't know him, Jamie is UKCC/Level 2 judo coach as well as a sports massage therapist. He regularly posts updates on physical well being and how to look after your bodies. You can often see videos of his son carrying out a variety of exercises either using equipment or his Dad for demonstrations.

Tatsfield Martial Arts

The coach used to do this as a junior before his gradings came up, his Dad was the person on the floor and his Mum called out the hold-down names. Coach had to keep hold of his partner (Dad) at all times, keeping his weight on him as he (coach) transitioned from hold to hold.... posted 31.03.20 at 10.37

Sport England

Join the Movement campaign includes lots of fun and creative ideas on how to get active at home, with exclusive offers and workouts from content providers such as Les Mills on Demand, Joe Wicks (The Body Coach) and FiiT, plus ideas for how to get active outside.  It uses the hashtag #StayInWorkOut to show how people can continue to get active when they're spending most of their time at home, and is encouraging others to share some of the best ideas they find online using the same hashtag.

 

Building on what we've learned from This Girl Can and We Are Undefeatable, this new campaign isn't just giving people ideas of how to get active in or near their homes, but it's also showing them that it’s not only fun but also worth doing. 

 

Remember, in any given day, you can still go outside for one form of exercise, such as a walk, a run or a cycle, if you're well enough and as long as you’re on your own, or with members of your household. Please always follow the latest official advice on social distancing - which means staying more than two metres from others - and follow the advice on general hygiene. It's important that you stick stringently to the guidance.

If you're going outside to get active, you should do this locally, staying close to your home and avoiding places where it may be hard to follow the guidelines.
